At the end of the Garner/Ash "Good Food Hour"radio show, we have the team from left to right, John Ash, Grant Crandall, ASWA Vice President, Carl Brandhorst , ASWA President, and Steve Garner. This has been the fifth year for the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association pouring east coast wines on the Garner/Ash Good Food Hour radio show at 1350 AM.
The Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association (ASWA) was featured again on the Steve Garner/John Ash weekly radio talk show “The Good Food Hour” on 30 January 2016. This show has been on the air since 1987. Steve Garner has been a radio personality for 40 years 28 of them on the same station (KSRO). He developed three programs for the station: Grapevine featuring winemakers, growers and sommeliers, Garden Talk and the “Good Food Hour”. John Ash is an internationally recognized culinary expert and restauranteur and one time winner of the IACP for best cookbook of the year.. The Good Food Hour is the longest running food and wine radio show in California. You can hear podcasts on their web site: www.ksro.com. This was the fifth year that ASWA has been featured on the show to highlight some of the winning wines from its annual wine competition. The Association was represented by its President, Carl Brandhorst, Board Member Grant Crandall, and its West Coast Representative, Ms. Anne Vercelli of Healdsburg, CA. The competition highlights east coast wines from 17 states from Maine to Florida. The grapes must be grown and vinified within those 17 states in order to qualify for the competition. In 2014 the Association added fruit wines, meads and ciders to the judging categories to help recognize the growth and quality in these beverage categories and like the grapes must be grown in these 17 states.
The wines highlighted on this talk show were all Medal winners from the 10th ASWA Wine Competition conducted in July 2015 in Haymarket, VA and are as follows:
