ASWA Wine Comp

Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association Wine Competition:

ASWA_Wine_Comp_1The Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association (ASWA) has conducted a Wine Competition for many years. As the Vinifera Wine Growers Association (VWGA) the Wine Competition centered in the early years on wines from Virginia. The organization, realizing that good and sometimes great wines were being made outside of Virginia, decided to broaden the focus of its wine competition to encompass the wines from all of the states on the Atlantic seaboard starting in 2005 and subsequently changed its name to reflect the more regional approach the organization had adopted. The goal of the Association is to make the public aware that the eastern seaboard is a top quality wine-producing region.

The Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association has for a number of years conducted its wine competition in Haymarket, VA at The Regency at Dominion Valley Country and Golf Club. The competition covers the 17 states from Maine to Florida that border the Atlantic including Vermont, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The Association holds an awards ceremony on Capitol Hill each year after the completion of the competition under the auspices of the Congressional Wine Caucus. For additional information about the Capitol Hill events see the Press Releases and photographs see WINE CAUCUS RECEPTION.

Winners from the competition are presented at the Unified Wine and Grape Symposium, the main wine industry convention, typically with approximately 30,000 attendess in Sacramento, CA each year at the regional wine tasting held in the convention center.

ASWA_Wine_Comp_2The BEST OF SHOW in 2017 was 2013 Cabernet Franc Reserve from Narmada Winery in Amissville, VA.
